I am a candidate looking for a job, but I don’t see anything suitable for me, should I still contact you?

Absolutely! We love to hear from all fantastic people like yourself, just because the role isn’t up there doesn’t mean we can’t help. We can talk through some options on where you would like to work and approach on your behalf or suggest some clients we know would love to see your CV. Give us a call and let’s have a chat. Can I just apply to the company directly and by pass you?

Ah, that’s not very nice when we told all about the company! You absolutely can but when you do your own job search you see a company web page and an advert / job spec. Do you really know the company like we do? We have met them, we know the team, we know what they like and don’t like, we know how to prep you for the interview, we negotiate on salary (that makes you feel awkward right?) We can look at a wide range of options for you and all confidentially, so we would really like it that if we represent you, you know we are committed.

You talk about value add – how on earth do you justify me using your services to fill a role?

Easy! Think about how much time you have spent on recruitment so far. How much of this time means you haven’t been doing what you usually do? How much longer is it going to take? How much will an advert cost you? Then once you have the applications coming through, how long does it take to look through all the CVs and create a shortlist? Have you time to talk to all candidates on the phone to see if they are worth interviewing? Sounds like a headache doesn’t it? Hand it over to us – we love all this and we have the time and facilities to do it for you.

What does HLP stand for?

Well its great for marketing really as we can use it to stand for lots of things – Helping Link People. Honest Loyal Professionals. Hangry Lezanne Pounces. You see it can go on and on!!

Helping link Partners.

Partners means our candidates, clients, staff and suppliers.

What happens if I hire a member of staff and they leave?

How frustrating – you have just paid us a nice sum of money for all the hard work we did and now they have gone or perhaps they just did not fit in with your business. Hard luck.

Just kidding, when we started the work for you – you will have been sent terms of business and in there (probably one of the only clauses you will read) is the rebate terms – so if a candidate has left we pay you back proportionate to this as per the terms (the other important bit to read is when to pay by so you are indeed covered to receive a rebate). We would also like to send you some replacements so you don’t have to start the process from scratch again.

Where are your offices?

We are based working from home in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and are fully flexible on where we can meet you to discuss your career and requirements.

Do you offer a referral scheme?

Referrals are so important to us. We would be happy to receive any recommendations from you and if we find your recommendation a role we will send you a M&S gift card as a thank you.

I have sent my CV to a job but not heard back, what shall I do?

We get many CV’s come through and look at all of them – if you haven’t heard back from us in 48 hours it may mean that your application for this role was unsuccessful. However, if something comes up more suited to your experience we will be in touch.

I have a vacancy I need to fill, I don’t like using agencies as you are so expensive but I am really struggling, should I call you?

Yes please! We understand that some businesses just can’t seem to justify paying for our services, recruitment should be easy right? It’s really not – believe us we know!! We have the ability to be really flexible with payment and fees. Hopefully once we find you the right candidate and you have gone back to your day job of not being a recruiter you will see the value we can add.

When are you available for me to call you?

We are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm but once we have established contact you will have the HLP mobile number so you can call or text or email whatever time and if we can come back to you – we will.

I would like to discuss my CV/ my requirement face to face with you – is that possible?

It’s our favourite way to communicate! We are happy for you to meet with us at any place that suits you – your office or your favourite coffee shop – call us to book an appointment. Do feel free to video call to put a face to a name.

Why should I use HL&P above all the other recruitment agencies?

We actually get recruitment and the sector we work in, we know what a Quantity Surveyor, FD, Finance Manager, Payroll, Commercial Director, Credit Controller, etc does. We have either done it ourselves or been in the industry recruiting so long we could morph into one of these roles and start doing the job. Don’t believe us – ask us a technical question!.
